February Update: Further Delay

Further delay: this month, the council’s Community Service Overview and Scrutiny Committee was set to discuss the conclusions of the feasibility study looking at the possibiilty of demolishing and developing Northcote Library and building a new site opposite, to include the libary, bookshop, cafe and community hall. In July 2014, the Council made a new and unexpected proposal. Wheels move slowly over there, but we should hear by the end of February whether their plans are likely to go ahead. Local residents moved a step closer to their dream of opening an independent bookshop this week when Northcote Books Limited was officially registered as a Society for the Benefit of the Community.
